Syllabus

The syllabus provides an overview of the general programme of study, which is tailored to the specific needs of the veterinarian-in-training.

Month 1-2

  • Bringing a high level of knowledge of anatomy (bones, muscles, joints, nerves).
  • Update pathophysiology of orthopedic and neurological problems.

Skills

  • Watching patients.
  • Active thinking about the origin of complaints (anatomical localization, etc.).

Orthopedic and Neurological examination: the basis, how do you perform it, how do you interpret the results?

  • Follow months 1 to 4 theory behind OMD.
  • What kinds of deviations are possible, what symptoms do you see, etc.
  • Join an orthopedist.

Skills

The veterinarian in training will first perform an orthopedic and neurological examination of patients and present his / her findings to the trainer. The trainer repeats the orthopedic and neurological examination supplemented with the OMD examination and treatment.

Review

  • Practical testing by having orthopedic and neurological examinations performed on several patients.
  • Lameness in the young dog.
  • Interpretations of video recordings of the animal's movement.

  • Learning to perform the OMD research on patients.

Conduct and record the OMD examination in several patients. All this is checked by the trainer.

The veterinarian in training examines the patients orthopedically and neurologically and according to orthomanual veterinary examination. All this is checked by the trainer.

  • Every patient examined by a veterinarian in training counts as an assessment.
  • Write a case report after consultation with the trainer.

Gain more knowledge from literature on conditions that can be treated with OMD (TLDD, LSI, HNP, CSMP, etc.).

Such as 9-10 months, supervised by the trainer.

  • Written / oral testing of knowledge about the various syndromes.

Month 16-24

  • Gain knowledge of different work and sports disciplines of dogs.
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation and physiotherapy techniques.
  • Conduct a literature search (subject after consultation).

Skills

Independently treat patients under the supervision of the trainer.

Review

  • Like month 16-18 with 95% good results for the study and 95% for the OMD treatment respectively.
  • Final assessment in month 24.
  • Diploma Aharon Orthomanual Veterinary Medicine




Recommended:

  • Take courses in Bern: Neurology, at least I and II.
  • Postgraduate education in the Netherlands and abroad.
  • Attending ESVN conferences.
